Will the no-pull harness stop my dog from pulling straight away?
The harness is designed to help reduce pulling, not act as an instant fix.
It features a front chest ring that gently redirects your dog’s forward motion back towards your side when they pull. Instead of pulling straight ahead, they’re guided around, which naturally discourages the behaviour over time.
For some dogs, this makes a noticeable difference from the very first walk. For others, it takes a bit of consistency and training to see the full benefit.
Like anything, it works best when used regularly alongside good walking habits. Most owners see really positive improvements, but it’s not a miracle cure overnight.
Is the magnetic clasp safe?
Yes — Barkee tests its products extensively, including with large breeds up to 85kg, to ensure the clasp holds securely under lead tension and active movement.
The clasp sits protected and locked in position, and only opens when deliberately lifted.
As with any harness, we recommend removing it during rough play or activities where the clasp could be caught or compressed, such as wrestling or rolling with other dogs.
How secure should the harness fit?
Barkee harnesses are designed to fit snugly, not tightly. You should generally only be able to fit one finger between the strap and your dog’s fur.
Correct fit is especially important around the neck and chest area. A harness that is too loose may allow some dogs, particularly puppies, slim dogs, or dogs able to reverse suddenly, to back out during pulling or high activity.
Our harnesses are designed to sit securely while still allowing plenty of comfortable movement and flexibility. For particularly nervous dogs, strong pullers, or dogs known to reverse out of equipment, we recommend taking extra care during fitting and adjustment.
Orders & Customisation
How do I personalise my dog’s harness?
When choosing your harness, simply type your dog’s name into the custom text box before adding it to your cart. All name tags are printed in uppercase as standard, so please double-check spelling before completing your order.
Can I add emojis or symbols to the name tag?
We currently support standard English letters and numbers only. If you’d like something special, email hello@barkee.co.uk and we’ll see what’s possible.
Are the name tags removable?
Yes. Our harnesses use Velcro-backed name tags that are fully removable. If you’re concerned about safety when out and about, you can detach the tags at any time without affecting the harness.
How do I know you’ve received my order?
As soon as your order is placed, you’ll receive a confirmation email with your order number. If it hasn’t arrived within a few minutes, check your junk or promotions folder or email support@barkee.co.uk.
Can I change or cancel my order after placing it?
We begin preparing personalised orders very quickly. If you need to make a change or cancel, please contact us as soon as possible at support@barkee.co.uk.
Once production of your personalised name tag has started, we may not be able to make amendments but we’ll always do our best to help where possible.
How do I choose the right size for my dog?
We’ve made this as simple as possible with our size finder on the product page (just under the name selection). It gives you a tailored recommendation in seconds.
If you’d prefer to measure, use your dog’s girth (the widest part of the chest, just behind the front legs) as the key measurement.
All Barkee harnesses are fully adjustable and designed to fit snugly, not tightly. You should always be able to slip one finger between the strap and your dog’s fur.
If your dog is between sizes, we recommend sizing up. For puppies, choose the closest fit and allow room to grow.

Shipping & Delivery
Where do you ship from?
All Barkee orders are packed and shipped from our UK fulfilment centre. We’re proudly based in Brighton, where we design, test, and refine every product before it reaches your dog’s doorstep.
When will my order be sent out?
We dispatch orders within 1–2 working days. Once dispatched, delivery typically takes 2–4 working days.
Most orders arrive sooner, but we prefer to set realistic expectations 🤍
Personalised items may take a little longer during busy periods.
How can I track my order?
Once your order ships, you’ll receive a dispatch email with a tracking link so you can follow it all the way to your door.
Do you ship internationally?
We’re currently focused on the UK, as we want every part of the Barkee experience, from fit to fulfilment, to be just right.
That said, we’re happy to arrange special international orders. Just email us at hello@barkee.co.uk with what you’re looking for and your address, and we’ll provide a shipping quote.
Returns & Exchanges
Can I return or exchange my order?
We want you and your dog to love every Barkee order. If something isn't right, we'll make it right.
Free size exchanges
Ordered the wrong size? No problem. Contact us at support@barkee.co.uk within 30 days of delivery and we'll sort a replacement at no extra cost. Items must be unused, unwashed, and in original condition. You cover return postage — we'll handle the rest.
If you're swapping between sizes that use the same name tag size, your existing tag works perfectly with the new harness and we won't need to remake it.
Changed your mind?
No problem at all. Return any item — including personalised name tags — within 30 days of delivery for a full refund. Items must be unused and in original condition. Return postage is the customer's responsibility.
Faulty, damaged, or incorrect order?
Contact us and we'll make it right immediately — no questions asked.

I ordered the wrong size — what happens to my tag?
If you exchange your harness for a different size, we’ll remake and attach a new personalised name tag if the replacement size requires it. If the new size uses the same name tag size, your original tag can be kept and reused, and no replacement tag will be sent. All remakes are included as part of our free size exchange, at no extra cost.
What should I do if I receive a faulty or incorrect item?
If something isn’t right, please email support@barkee.co.uk within 30 days of delivery. Include your order number, a brief description of the issue, and clear photos showing the fault or error.
If the issue is confirmed, we’ll arrange a replacement, refund, or store credit, and we’ll cover any reasonable return and replacement shipping costs.
Care & Materials
How should I wash my Barkee harness or lead?
We recommend spot cleaning or gentle hand washing in cold or lukewarm water using a mild detergent, then air drying flat or hanging away from direct heat or sunlight. Avoid machine washing, tumble drying, soaking, or scrubbing, as this may affect printed details, stitching, or hardware over time. After wet walks, wipe metal components dry and store all items in a cool, dry place to help preserve fit, finish, and performance.
Is the magnetic clasp waterproof?
Yes, the magnetic clasp is fully waterproof and designed to handle everyday walks in all weather.
That said, as it’s made from metal, we recommend giving it a quick wipe and letting it dry after it gets wet. This helps keep it in the best condition and ensures it lasts as long as possible.
Should I treat my Barkee harness or lead?
Our webbing is intentionally left untreated.
Many coated alternatives use plastic or chemical finishes to increase stain resistance. We choose not to apply these coatings, as they can crack over time, feel less breathable, and may pose a risk if chewed.
Like quality outdoor gear or canvas trainers, lighter colours may show dirt after muddy adventures. Simply hand wash in cool water with mild soap and air dry.
If you’d like additional protection, you may choose to apply a pet-safe fabric protector designed for outdoor textiles. This is completely optional and should always be fully dry before use.
What materials do you use?
Our walkwear is crafted from durable nylon and polyester webbing, finished with reinforced metal hardware throughout. We use soft neoprene on handles for comfort, reflective stitching for visibility, and hard-wearing fabrics designed to stand up to everyday walks while feeling comfortable for your dog.
Gifting & Packaging
Can I send my order as a gift?
Yes. Our clean, durable Barkee mailers look great straight through the post. We don’t currently offer gift wrapping or messages, but the unboxing still feels special and personal.
Do you include pricing or receipts in the package?
No. All receipts are digital. There’s no pricing or paperwork inside the parcel.
